UVa Support for Tibetan Studies
Visiting Scholars & Fellows
The Tibet Center regularly offers visiting scholar appointments to be in residence at UVa for visits ranging from one month to two years. We typically host three to six scholars a year in Tibetan Studies, many of whom are Tibetan or Chinese. The Center also has a Fellows program that incorporates external scholars into the extended UVa community through relationships of collaborative research or shared intellectual and social networking initiatives.
Unfortunately, there are currently no institutionalized fellowships to offer to postdoctoral fellows or visiting scholars. Thus we are dependent on scholars bringing their own funding, or grant funding at UVa specific to that year and project. However, UVa has been a very generous host to visiting scholars with external funding, opening up classes, and offering the standard library and other forms of access to scholarly resources.
