Research Interests
My current research interests are Tibetan Buddhist protector deities specifically, and Asian models of divinity more broadly. I am currently conducting my dissertation fieldwork in Tibetan areas of China. The focus of my dissertation is the history of Nechung Monastery. In particular, I am examining the rise of the protector deity Pehar/Dorje Drakden’s cult at Nechung in the seventeenth century under the auspices of the Fifth Dalai Lama’s government.
