On the Origins and Philosophical Expressions of Bönpo Dzokchen

Geshe Yungdrung Tenzin Gyamtso, aka Tri Yungdrung will be discussing the historical and mythical origins as well as doctrinal foundations of the Bön Dzokchen meditative system.

Geshe will consider the unique Dzokchen system of the Bön Tibetan religion, giving particular attention to its narrative literature and the terminology of Zhang Zhung.

About the Speaker:
Born to a nomad family in the Amdo (Qinghai Province) region of Tibet, Geshe Yungdrung Tenzin Gyamtso, is Director of the Tibetan Yungdrung Bön Library at Menri Monastery in northern India where he studied. He served as the director of literature at the Yungdrung Bon Dialectic School for ten years, president of the board of the Medical College at Menri, and has been an active participant at international scholarly conferences in Europe and Asia, including serving as the chairman for the Young Tibetan Research Scholars conference in Dharamsala in 2017. He is the author of six books in the Tibetan language.
